Matthew Colbert
Founder & CEO
What do you do when you have 15+ years of experience in politics and tech? If you’re Matthew Colbert, you found a startup called Spend Consciously to serve as a vehicle for social change. Spend Consciously’s first product is BuyPartisan, a free app that allows you to see the political spending of companies you support. Matthew’s interest in politics and tech first collided while working on fully integrated political campaigns during both Obama election campaigns and with senior elected officials on the city, state and federal levels across the country. Matthew has also started two successful political consulting, fundraising and public relations firms, which have a broad portfolio of clients ranging from Fortune 1000 companies to start-ups and non-profits.

Michael Scott
Vice President of Business Development
Michael is our resident smarty-pants and all-around nice guy. Before joining our team, he used his private equity, management consulting, valuation and strategic advisory experience toward social investment banking. As a big believer in conscious capitalism, he fits perfectly into his business development role at Spend Consciously and helps us open and walk through numerous doors on a regular basis. And yes, he really is super-smart: Scott is a Morehouse Man, holds a degree in International Comparative Economic Systems from the University of London’s, London School of Economics and Political Science, and he took Advanced Masters courses in finance at Johns Hopkins University.
